Observ

Community Edition

Observability that’s free, forever

The Community Edition is our free, open-core edition: complete observability, 100% on-premise, on your own infrastructure. No limited trial, no credit card — free forever.

Free forever

No credit card. No volume limits. No seat limits.

What’s included, for free

  • Full core: OTLP, DataFusion engine, embedded UI
  • 1 cluster
  • Unlimited telemetry volume & retention (your object storage)
  • OpenTelemetry OTLP ingestion (gRPC & HTTP)
  • Single multi-role Rust binary
  • Unlimited UI seats
  • Community support

Why free forever?

Because volume and retention live on your own object storage — your S3, not ours. You never pay to store your telemetry, and we have no infrastructure cost to pass on to you.

Our model is open-core: the Community Edition covers the entire observability core. We only charge for team and scale capabilities — multi-node clusters, RBAC & SSO, federation, the Intelligence brain and support — through the Pro and Enterprise tiers. Your core observability stays free, forever.

🇪🇺 European sovereignty

Built in France, made for Europe

Observ is designed and engineered in France and deploys 100% on-premise, on your own infrastructure or European hosting. No dependency on US hyperscalers, no data leaving your jurisdiction. Your telemetry stays on your own object storage — European sovereignty is not an option, it is the foundation.

Hosted and operated in Europe
GDPR-aligned, no extraterritorial exposure

Questions & Answers

Is the Community Edition really free — and really unlimited?

Yes, forever. The Community Edition gives you the full core (OTLP, DataFusion engine, embedded UI) on 1 cluster, deployed on-premise, with unlimited telemetry volume and retention — because they live on your object storage, not ours. Community support, no credit card.

What exactly is a “cluster”?

A cluster is one autonomous Observ deployment: a control-plane / catalog plus the compute pods (ingest, query, compact, llm…) attached to it. One environment — production, staging — is one cluster, no matter how many OTel nodes emit or how many records you store.

Do you ever charge by volume, records or seats?

Never. Volume and retention run on your storage, and UI seats are unlimited everywhere. Billing is decoupled from telemetry by design — that’s the whole promise, and it would be incoherent (and trivially bypassable in self-host) to meter it.
